teresa m.i. schaefer - - artist

As a career psychologist, I am drawn to recreate images in art that emote. My inspiration rests in feelings - genuine, soulful, even silly. While there is much to appreciate in landscapes and settings, I am moved by the vastness of both the similarities and differences of my human and animal studies. My influences are at my core, genetic. Born into music, art, photography, and writing, I have been exposed to the arts since birth but have participated professionally only recently. Outside of my mural design, I am more readily drawn to ink, charcoal, and graphite as mediums of choice. My style can range from minimalist to the thousands of dots necessary in pointillism to create a single feather on a bird. Presently, I am pursuing training in pastels. The looseness of this painting style is in sharp contrast to the bold precision of ink. I think I like it.
